Physician & Patient Education
Mauna Kea Technologies is dedicated to guiding both physicians and patients through the Cellvizio experience. With a plethora of tools and resources, physicians are comprehensively educated on the unique benefits and applications of Cellvizio. We ensure that physicians feel confident and supported as they integrate Cellvizio into their practice, enabling them to become Cellvizio experts quickly.
In addition to physicians, we educate patients on the ways in which a Cellvizio procedure revolutionizes their path of care. Through our patient focused websites and literature, we direct potential Cellvizio cases to specific facilities, thus promoting the growth of physician clientele and widening the scope of Cellvizio’s impact.
We offer a comprehensive education and training track to help physicians and their teams seamlessly integrate Cellvizio into their practice. From discovery to expertise, onboarding with Cellvizio is easy with peer-to-peer education, in-service, proctorship, on-going case support, and webinars. With the guidance of Mauna Kea Technologies, Cellvizio users experience a short learning curve as they become proficient in image pattern recognition.
Peer-to-Peer Education: The best way to become familiar with our technology is to learn from current Cellvizio experts. This can be accomplished through the pursuit of educational opportunities, mastering image pattern recognition, and directly engaging in peer-to-peer conversation.
Cellvizio.net is an online program dedicated to educating physicians on image pattern recognition. Practitioners can earn their online user certification that ensures a grasp on recognizing image patterns through testing their knowledge on the virtual Cellvizio system.
CLE Academy, or Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy (CLE) Academy, is an online training platform dedicated to pancreatic cysts and designed exclusively for physicians, with additional modules added periodically. Through free, expert led online image pattern recognition courses, physicians can learn how needle-based CLE is used to classify pancreatic cysts during EUS-FNA procedures.
The Cellvizio App enables physicians to become confident in Cellvizio real-time in vivo cellular imaging, and is available for free on iOS and Android. Physicians fine-tune their image pattern recognition skills and use the video library as a reference to compare cases with real examples across multiple indications.
In-Service: We offer hands-on training on the operating system, handling and reprocessing probes, and troubleshooting. Our in-service support also includes on-site training as staff turns over, beyond the initial Cellvizio onboarding period.
Proctorships: A one day site visit, either on-site or remote, will allow clinicians to familiarize themselves with the technology, obtain best practices, and ask practical questions to Cellvizio experts. We can also offer real-life case observation and review, as well as a comprehensive onboarding process with support readily available. Physicians have the opportunity to eventually become a Center of Excellence and host procedural workshops, webinars, or fellowship programs.
On Going Case Support: Support for the implementation and development of your Cellvizio systems includes clinical, marketing, and reimbursement support. Staff will have access to in-person or remote continued case support from the local clinical representative.
Webinars: Always free for Cellvizio customers, physicians will have access to our online webinars. These educational sessions share new indications and applications, as well as offer the opportunities to interact with Cellvizio reference sites and launch new programs. Links to exclusive webinars, as well as clinical study results, event invitations, and technology updates, can be found on Mauna Kea Technologies: LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook.
Education Resources for Your Patients
Cellvizio is a real-time in vivo cellular imaging platform. It is the only technology in the world that allows a physician to visualize cells with the clarity of extremely high magnification. Essentially, Cellvizio provides vision to see that which is invisible to the naked eye. With this vital information, physicians can confidently diagnose and treat their patients, thus greatly impacting the lives of your patients.
The Cellvizio platform is used globally across a wide range of medical specialties, including gastroenterology, urology, and pulmonology. Our patient websites, social media, and patient leaflets, which illustrate the benefits of Cellvizio, inspire patients to seek physicians who offer Cellvizio.
Our Patient Websites share how Cellvizio can impact the treatment of GERD/BE and Pancreatic Cysts, and host the physician locator. These referral websites serve as educational tools so that potential patients have access to facilities that practice Cellvizio procedures.
Stomach acid can wreak havoc if it is able to splash onto the lining of the esophagus. This is called Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). In some cases, the damage can cause pre-cancerous cells to form, which is known as Barrett’s Esophagus (BE).
The Cellvizio platform can be used to assess the tissue of the esophagus during an upper endoscopy procedure. Clinical studies have shown that adding Cellvizio to standard practice serves as an adjunct to biopsy, while increasing diagnostic yield and diagnostic accuracy. With increased visualization, physicians can more accurately determine the treatment path of GERD/BE patients.
Because pancreatic cysts can be cancerous and without visible symptoms, physicians may want to take a sample of the pancreatic cyst fluid to determine the nature of the lesion. One of the options is to perform an Endoscopic Ultrasound fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA).
Cellvizio enables the visualization of tissue at the cellular level, thus providing information that assists the physicians in classifying pancreatic cysts in real-time. This unique ability allows physicians to eliminate the need for additional surveillance procedures, diagnose the cysts more quickly, confidently decide on a surgical path, and reduce the number of unnecessary repeat endoscopic procedures.
Social Media is an excellent way for your patients to learn how their lives could be impacted by Cellvizio. We cultivate an informational online community, where patients can be directed to a near-by Cellvizio facility.
Patient Leaflets, which can be specialized per physician office, offer patients another avenue for education on Cellvizio. Posters and leaflets help patients to discern if Cellvizio is right for them. Contact us directly to learn more about a customized patient leaflet for your facility.
