Nicholas Ayache, Ph.D., Medical Image Processing
Since 1992, Nicholas has been leading the EPIDAURE project, the division of France's INRIA concerned with medical image processing. A world-renowned expert on innovative medical image processing, Nicholas is the editor in chief of a leading scientific journal and the author and/or editor of many reference articles and books dealing with image processing.
Apart from his activities as a researcher, he teaches at École Centrale Paris and consults for hi-tech companies. Nicholas has been involved in the creation of several start-ups and spin-offs using INRIA's technologies, is a graduate of École des Mines and holds a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences.

Pierre Léna, Ph.D., Optical Instrumentation
Professor Lena is member of the French Academy of Sciences and a prominent astrophysicist at the Paris Observatory. Formerly, he was the dean of graduate studies in Astronomy and Astrophysics in the Ile-de-France region as well as a president of the National Institute for Pedagogic Research.
Professor Lena has been instrumental in numerous large European instrumentation projects for astronomy such as the adaptive optics systems on European Southern Observatory's telescopes in Chile and the Canada-France Hawaii Telescope, the Very Large Telescope and the Very Large Telescope Interferometer on Cerro Paranal, in Chile.
Professor Lena is an alumnus of École Normale Supérieure and holds a Ph.D. in Physics.
