Endoscopic Advances for Clinical Practice ]]> http://www.maunakeatech.com/mktlive/events http://www.maunakeatech.com/mktlive/events Tue, 26 Mar 2013 16:58:03 +0100 The field of endoscopy has burgeoned from the ability to simply look at the lining of the GI tract with the scope to the current advanced technology which not only allows interventional gastroenterologists to obtain detailed images but also use the scope as a tool for treatment. Visualization has gone beyond looking at the surface and delved deeper to obtain ultrasound and microscopic images. Diagnostic capabilities have improved to allow for tissue acquisition in challenging anatomy with ERCP, cholangiopancreatoscopy, EUS, and double balloon endoscopy. Surgeons and oncologists increasingly rely on interventional gastroenterologists for appropriate diagnosis, staging and often management of GI neoplasms. Endoscopy has emerged as a less invasive alternative to surgery in the areas of endoscopic mucosal resection, tissue ablation, pancreatic pseudocyst drainage, and now even achalasia therapy. All of these new frontiers of endoscopy are rapidly evolving. This course will outline where standard practices in endoscopy are currently and how new innovations may enhance or revolutionize endoscopic practice in the future.
